The Tithe and Food Bank Support

Access to Fresh Fruit and Vegetables

Grace + Flavour wants to help its local residents obtain fresh vegetables and fruits particularly where access is restricted for reasons such as cost or logistics. For this reason we provide a tithing scheme and grow produce for a local food bank.

Food Bank Support

Grace + Flavour offers suitable produce to a local food bank when it is in plentiful supply and is surplus to the requirements of its volunteers. It has previously designated a dedicated bed for this purpose but is currently trialling provision from the main beds as a more flexible approach.

The TITHE

Grace + Flavour’s tithe objective is to give up to 10% of the total annual yield of fruit and vegetables to local residents who have restricted access to fresh produce for reasons such as age, immobility or infirmity.

On Thursday mornings during the high season when produce is plentiful, it is cropped and made into food baskets by G+F volunteers. The baskets are distributed by volunteers organised by Horsley Wheel of Care which also selects the recipients.
